Tips for new denture wearers

Our own master laboratory — a fit made for you
Our own master laboratory
Your partial or full denture is made in our own master laboratory. Practice and dental technicians coordinate directly, which makes it easier to match fit and tooth shade to you — and adjustments are straightforward to carry out.
Adjust it, don't put up with it
A denture should not press. If you feel an uncomfortable spot, we correct the fit in a short appointment. Nobody has to live with a badly fitting denture — we would rather adjust it again until it is right.
Care we show you
So that your denture and your remaining teeth stay healthy, we show you how to clean the denture, the clasps and the gums. Regular check-ups keep the fit under review and help prevent sore spots.

Frequently asked questions about dentures
What types of denture are there?
Depending on the situation, partial dentures, full dentures or implant-supported dentures are the options.
Partial or full denture — what is the difference?
A partial denture replaces individual missing teeth and is held by the remaining ones; a full denture replaces all the teeth in one jaw.
What does a denture cost?
The cost depends on the type, the material, the work involved and the subsidy from your health insurer. You receive a written treatment and cost plan (Heil- und Kostenplan) beforehand; the binding figure is the one in that plan.
How do you clean a denture properly?
Clean the denture every day and have it checked regularly, so that the fit and your oral health stay stable.
How long does a denture last?
A denture can last many years, but it sometimes has to be adjusted or relined when the jaw changes shape.
Can you eat normally with a denture?
After a period of getting used to it, most things are possible again; hard or sticky foods usually take some practice.
Denture or implant — which suits me better?
A denture is often more economical, implants usually give a firmer hold; the decision should follow the finding and your own wishes.
When is a full denture needed?
A full denture becomes necessary when there are no natural teeth left in a jaw, or none worth keeping.
What does statutory health insurance pay towards a denture?
Statutory health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung, GKV) pays a fixed subsidy (Festzuschuss) towards the standard care for your finding — not a share of your invoice. The basic rate is 60 %; it rises to 70 % if your bonus booklet (Bonusheft) is complete for five years and to 75 % after ten years, and in a hardship case (Härtefall) the standard care can be covered in full. For a single missing tooth the 2026 figures are 552.96 € at 60 %, 645.12 € at 70 %, 691.20 € at 75 % and 921.60 € in a hardship case; a partial or full denture is calculated from several such items. Tooth-coloured facing is part of the standard care only for teeth 15–25 and 34–44, and only on the outer, visible surface. Anything beyond the standard care is your own contribution. The treatment and cost plan (Heil- und Kostenplan) must be submitted and approved before treatment starts; it is valid for six months, and the date that counts is the day the denture is fitted.
What helps new denture wearers?
Patience, small bites, wearing the denture regularly and coming in early if a sore spot appears all make the adjustment easier.
